I hope everyone remembered to participate in Earth Hour, which was from 8:30-9:30pm local time. Turn off the lights and save some energy!

I participated. There's nothing like sitting around candlelight on a rainy evening.

I LOVE the earth. Not only is it our home, but it's a damn right beautiful one. <3 I hope we can all learn to appreciate it fully.

If you didn't participate in Earth Hour... SHAME ON YOU!! Haha just kidding.

Anyway, here are some factoids about energy consumption/climate change:

1) If you turn your computer off instead of letting it hibernate, you're saving 10% of the energy you use with it.
2) Scientists predict that by the end of the century, the emporer penguin will become extinct due to climate change.
3) One football field of rainforest is destroyed every second.

K, not much, but still. The one that hits me the most is probably the penguin & the rainforest one. And even if you don't believe in global warming yada yada yada... It's still cool to save energy. It puts less stress on the Earth, so whatever side you are looking from, saving energy is a good thing.

The penguins may become extinct because of the ice breakup. It kind of screws up their mating patterns and migration. They are a long lived organism and have been in Antartica for a long time, so it's doubtful they'll be able to adapt quick enough.
